Hello
Greetings from a very warm Box. The computers don’t seem to like the sudden onset of summer and are warning of imminent component failure, but it’s lovely outside. Luckily an opportunity to sit under trees and lounge in the English countryside is approaching as WOMAD Charlton Park is just around the corner.

Hot on the heels of his tour of South America and Mexico, WOMAD co-founder Peter Gabriel is to perform a one-off show at the festival on Saturday night.
“I had no immediate plans to play in the UK,” says Peter. “But when Festival Director Chris Smith heard I was looking for a suitable event for Witness.org” – the multi award-winning human rights organisation that has worked with over 300 groups in 70 countries worldwide – “he generously offered me the Saturday at WOMAD. I’m delighted that my only show in Europe this year will be for a cause so close to my heart.”
Day and weekend tickets for the festival are available.

Just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, it has: Senegalese superstar Youssou N’Dour and his band Super Etoile de Dakar will be performing on the Sunday night, wowing the festival with their infectious urban mbalax rhythms and irresistible Afro-pop dance grooves. A statesman and social commentator, N’Dour is one of the most celebrated African musicians in history. The Super Etoile are probably the most popular African band in the world. Together they are simply incredible.

Games Without Frontiers is currently the source of a competition at realworldremixed.com. Remix the track and you could win tickets to WOMAD Charlton Park (Competition winners in the U.S.A win tickets and travel to the Summer X Games).
